RSV is a common seasonal virus, like the flu, that affects the lungs and airways. The virus is highly contagious and can cause upper and lower respiratory tract infections. RSV is also a major cause of hospitalisations worldwide each year and can lead to death in older adults and children. Those most at risk are the elderly, young children, and people with underlying heart and lung conditions.
There is currently no vaccine or guideline-recommended antiviral treatment available for RSV, but by participating in this study, you or your child could help with the development of new vaccines that may prevent others from having to endure the effects of the virus in the future.
We are currently enrolling healthy adults and toddlers to participate in a clinical research study that could help further research of an investigational vaccine for RSV. The primary purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and tolerability of two doses of the investigational vaccine in men and women from 18 to 50 years old and toddlers from 12 to 24 months old.
There may be risks associated with participating in this clinical research study. The study doctor will explain these risks and answer any questions.
Before enrolling in the study, participants (or their parents/legal guardians) will be asked to sign the informed consent form (ICF) or permission form (in the case of parents/legal guardians) to show their understanding and willingness to participate in the study. Participants will attend individual screening visits, in which the study team will explain requirements and answer any questions. The study team will ask questions about participants’ medical histories, as well as perform physical examinations and other tests to determine if each participant qualifies for this study. If you or your child qualifies, the investigational vaccination, study-related medical exams, and laboratory services will be provided at no charge. There may be additional requirements that the study doctor will explain.
If you’re interested in participating or having your child participate in this study, talk to your or your child’s doctor to learn more or contact the study site below.
