Pneumococcal disease is often a complication of the flu. Researchers are studying an investigational vaccine which may provide protection against pneumococcal disease in healthy adults age 50 and older. This study will test the effectiveness and safety of an approved flu vaccine used in unison with an investigational vaccination which may help fight infections that can cause pneumococcal disease.
You may qualify for this study if you are 50 years of age or older and:
- Are in good health
- Have no history of invasive pneumococcal disease
- Have no hypersensitivity to any component of influenza vaccines, such as egg protein
- Have not received any influenza vaccine during the 2018-2019 flu season
The study doctor will review additional criteria with you to determine whether you can participate in the study.
